Project Helping Hand for Children: New Collaboration Agreement Signed

The partners of the "A Helping Hand for Children" just signed the new cooperation agreement for 2012-2013. By this act, they emphasize their shared commitment to continue working together for the success of the program to promote the release and subsequent reintegration into the community of minors imprisoned in Burundi.

Members of the Coordinating Committee at the signing of the Convention: Maggy Barankitse (Shalom House), surrounded by Patrick de Rond (CSI - Christian Solidarity International), Roger Nilles (Foundation of the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess of Luxemburg) and Patrick Godar (Bridderlech Deelen Foundation BD).

The roles of different partners remain unchanged from the previous two years: while Maison Shalom is responsible for the implementation of the project, the Bridderlech Deelen Foundation is in charge of the daily management. The CSI, together with BD, is responsible for monitoring and control of the project. On behalf of the Foundation of the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess, Roger Nilles thanked the partners for their extraordinary commitment and the quality of their work. The 2012-2013 budget of the project " A Helping Hand for Children " amounts to EUR 307,094.65.

The signing took place on April 25 during a short visit of Maggy Barankitse, president of Maison Shalom, in Luxemburg. The founder of the Burundian NGO informed representatives of the organizations on the progress of the project, particularly in terms of collaboration with the Law Society of Burundi.

The next follow-up visit is scheduled from 6 to 13 May 2012. Mr. Patrick de Rond (CSI)and Ms. Desiree Braun (Foundation of the Grand Duke and the Grand Duchess of Luxemburg) will visit the project and meet with officials and the minors there.
